Don'tcha Wonder Sometimes... (10/26/10)

Don't you ever wonder...

- Why TEA Partiers think Republicans will RESTRAIN the Wall Street bonuses they hate?

- Why we here in the U.S. can't get the advanced automobiles and cell phones available in Europe, Japan, Korea, Singapore, etc., etc., etc.?

- Why TEA Partiers think health care reform is a BAD thing?

- Why even historically more liberal news media like The Washington Post and CBS have turned so weirdly right-wing?

- How ANYBODY, even if they DON'T have a brain, could vote for Sharron Angle, Christine O'Donnell, Joe Miller, Carly Fiorina, Linda McMahon, Rand Paul, Meg Whitman, etc., etc., etc.?

- Why people are so angry at "illegal immigrants," who take horrible jobs they don't want, but think LEGAL immigrants, like H1-B visa holders who take jobs they DO want, are OK?

- Why anyone would rather have unregulated insurance company clerks, whose job depends on DENYING claims, make their health care decisions instead of tightly regulated "government bureaucrats," whose focus is on preventing fraud?

- Why a guy like Obama, who has been so bend-over-backwards kind to Wall Street and bankers, is characterized as "socialist" (and people actually fall for it)?

- Why New York's Cablevision still carries Fox News?

- What we think we will "win" in Afghanistan and/or Iraq?

- Why American corporations are free to shift jobs and production capacity overseas when we have such problems with unemployment?

- Why the mass media (particularly television) has COMPLETELY ignored the recently revealed proof of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas's perjury?

- How, after what happened in 2008, anybody could even remotely consider privatizing Social Security?

- What Meg Whitman thinks she would get (and from whom) for her $140 million investment even if she somehow won?

- Why nobody remembers that, before Reagan, most American workers enjoyed actual careers with job security and proper pensions?

- Why Congressional Republicans strove so hard to kill off GM and Chrysler during the brief period when nobody could get approved for car loans?

- What the HELL is going on here?

These questions, and many others, keep me awake at night.
Republicans whine and Republicans bitch: "Our rich are too poor, and our poor are too rich."
